I checked in at 1am for an overnight stay as I needed to fly out of Heathrow the next day. I had the opportunity to stay at both SPG properties at Heathrow (Sheraton Heathrow & Sheraton Skyline) on this trip so helpful this will help you folks who are wondering which one to pick.
Upon check-in, Ted had checked me in, and the manager was standing next to him. Ted quickly acknowledged my status and he looked into the system to see if they can upgrade me. The pure gesture to do so, and the apology from the manager as the suites are fully booked was highly appreciated by me. This was my first taste of good service at the hotel.
When I checked in the rooms, it was clean, in good shape but not as quite as nice as Sheraton Heathrow as the rooms there are new. Everything worked, I love the fact that the desk had 3 different power sockets to accommodate travelers from basically the whole world. The double-layer windows meant i could not hear the planes, which was important as I am a light sleeper. The bed however, is the only drawback, it was old and needed to replaced as the springs were worn out and the bed failed to support firmly.
The breakfast was great as with the service in the restaurant I reached out to the front desk a few more times with shuttle schedule and late check out request, all of my request were promptly responded to in welcoming fashion. The gym is also quite nice, and the bonus is the indoor pool. That is rare.
Overall if facilities are important to you, you should pick Sheraton Skyline as it has a better gym and pool. If you don't use facilities then the Sheraton Heathrow has newer rooms. Both hotel rooms are roughly the same size (i checked the floor map on door). Don't expect upgrades at either hotels as Sheraton Heathrow has none to offer and Sheraton Skyline has less than 10 suites despite 350 rooms. If coffee is important to you there is Starbucks at lobby of Sheraton Skyline.
